The
UJGT is a subsidiary tour of The UGA,
an adult amateur developmental tour
that has operated continuously since
2001. The experience gained by the
successful operation of the UGA will
insure to both the players and parents
that the UJGT will be operated with
the highest degree of professionalism
possible.
It is
through the operation of
The Unifour Golf Magazine,
now the
Carolina Golf News Today
the publisher discovered that some
very talented junior golfers did not
have the where with all to get their
golfing skills recognized by college
coaches. Rankings, both state and
national, are critical for a young
golfer in order to catch the eye of
college golf coaches. However, the
lack of the financial ability to
compete in events that provide those
rankings were generally out of the
reach of these talented junior
golfers. What few they could enter
would not provide sufficient points to
aid them in the rankings. Thus they
are left with only one path, walk-on.
The UJGT
will after each event email the
results to all North Carolina college
golf coaches in an effort to make them
aware of the UJGT players.
The goal
of the UJGT is to provide the
most economical opportunity for junior
golfers to challenge themselves in
very competitive events in order to
improve their playing skills that will
enable them to play at their next
level.
"In golf there are only
two competitors, the course and the
player. It is the goal of the UJGT to help
every player learn how to dominate THE
COURSE!" Tom Millican
